Okay, here’s the deal — I like to eat (probably too much but that’s another story). Which means one way or another I need to make some money. Now there are lots of ways to do that of course but I gave up my dream of winning the Indy 500 many days ago and although I still have hopes for my modeling career, for some reason I’m having trouble getting a call back from my agent.
Which leaves me this website.
Some people make money online (some make a LOT of money) by selling products, some by the advertising on their site, some by what we call affiliate marketing (commissions earned by referring to other sellers), some through various other methods and some by any combination of the above.
Enter the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). I don’t know why they want to make a Federal case out of it, I’m not sure how fair a Trade is involved and they certainly aren’t paying me any Commission but what do I know. Anyway, those guys in Washington want to protect you from us interweb moguls. I think their slogan is something like “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.” I kid, I kid!
The simple truth is there are some… um … not very nice folks on the internet. And it is wise to be careful. If the government has recently stepped up their oversight of what we do and say when it comes to taking your money, that’s understandable I suppose. And it should be no threat to those of us who are honest and decent and only want the best for our readers and oh, I’m blushing.
Bottom line: If you don’t trust me, you can certainly click away – the internet’s a big place (although I would welcome the opportunity to alleviate your concerns). Seriously. If I have not earned your trust, then I have no business being here or trying to coerce you into buying something, whether from me or from anyone else. And the fact is if you ever do find me trying to coerce you, call me on it. I will let you know at times about something I think is really cool you might want to consider investing your money in. But no pressure.
Basically you will find, from time to time, various offers on this site which may in one way or another earn me a couple of bucks. It may be advertising which is pretty obvious or an affiliate link which may be less so or, on rare occasions, I may actually offer something for sale myself. I will do my best to make it clear whenever I do these things, but if I don’t this is an overall disclosure of the situation. If you ever have any questions on this subject, please ask.
